Father Daughter Dance Songs - A Wonderful Memory Keepsake of Your Wedding Reception

Father and Daughter songs are fond remembrances of a childhood time with daddy's little girl. Create the right memory on your wedding day by planning the perfect wedding reception that includes a memorable father-daughter dance. The favorites songs heard at almost every wedding reception are the obvious ones, but what are some unique ones that we don't think about. Here is your chance to add to the list. Together, let's create a list of 1,000 songs. These songs should be the kind that any bride would love play while dancing with her father at her wedding reception.

When a young bride-to-be logs on to the internet to get ideas of a great song to dance to on her wedding day with her dad, she'll be able to see your song here and the reason why it was special to you. What a wonderful Pay It Forward wedding gift.

If you've never been a bride or you are the mom or dad of a bride, jump right in and tell us your favorite song.

Preparing for a wedding is tough enough. The music portion is a major part of the wedding plans. Not only do you have to arrange for the actual wedding music, but also the reception music that follows. Getting the right DJ and the right type of music that fits your tastes and is appropriate for the type of guests you are inviting is critical to a successful time at the reception.

What makes a great father/daughter song?

Most songs that are favorites are songs that have a good beat or are cheerful and get you up and dancing. However, a father/daughter dance song is different.

  • The song will bring back a happy time in both the father and daughter.
  • The song will rekindle a loving time and a favorite thing that they used to do together or still do together.
  • The song will bring a tear to an eye and a smile to the face as you realize that things are about to change (in a good way).
  • The song will make you feel that as a daughter you and your dad have a special bond that no one can ever take away.

A nice touch to the Father-Daughter Dance

The Shoe Box

I just wanted to share a personal note with you that I did with my dad on my wedding. Right before the Father-Daughter Dance came on, we placed a chair for me to sit on in the center of the dance floor. My mom walked me over and sat me down. Then she walked my dad over and handed him a box. It looked like a shoe box. He opened the box and there was a pair of white tennis shoes inside all decorated with glitter and the shoe strings sparkled.

My dad bent down in front of my chair and took my leg into his hands and smiled up at me and slipped off my high heel shoe. He then gently placed one of the new tennis shoes on my foot and tied the laces. The crowd clapped and cheered. He then went and did the same thing to my other foot and then when all the clapping had stopped again, he took my hand and the Father-Daughter Dance started. From that moment on I wore the tennis shoes until late into the evening when all the dancing had finished and my feet weren't as sore as I thought they would be from the long day.

I remember it like it was yesterday, and it was actually over fourteen years ago. Try to add a little personal touch to each section of your reception, the memories are wonderful and your wedding day will be a day to cherish forever.
