Sunny Days are ahead with Squidoo

My Sunny Daze bio photo is a lion standing tall and proud on the plain while the sunsets or rises in the background. I like to think of that lion as an inner spirit we all have to become somebody that takes a leadership stand. As a lion, king of the beasts, others can look up to us and know that we are in charge and serious about whatever it is we are fighting for, whether it's for a local charity, a nation wide organization, or a backyard local grass roots effort to make a difference in the world.

Squidoo is the platform that allows the lion in us all to take a stand. We now have the freedom to voice our opinion on a subject we feel strongly about and share our thoughts using visuals like YouTube, good written content, resourceful links, and personal networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook. Squidoo is also a place for charities to earn money one dime at a time. The dimes turn into dollars when we each contribute a little. It all adds up to support worthy causes to benefit those who need our help. Squidoo all you want and have fun. Let the lion in you roar loud and strong.

Sunny Daze - A little about me and my family.

Stop and Smell The Roses

My name is Angie and my outlook on life, all my life has been positive. Sure, there are moments when things don't look all that rosey and sometimes even a little hopeless, but they always work themsleves out. I have God in my life and so many things in my life have gone right, that I know God is there waiting in the wings, just ready to help us along. All we have to do is ask.

I am blessed to have a great husband and four wonderful children. If I could afford to raise 20 children, I would have 20 children. We decided four was a good number and they are all precious in their own way. My children are boy, girl, girl, boy and are ages 17, 15, 11, and 7 respectively. I have two girls sandwiched between two boys. I could create 100 lenses and not even touch the surface on all the things we have gone through as a family.

Every morning I wake up and decide that today is going to be a sunny day. Sunny days are warm, bright and full of light. That's how I try to live my life. More times than not, it's a challenge to keep that attitude and more times than not I turn to God for answers and things always work out.

My life is centered around my Christian beliefs and I was raised a Catholic and my children know God and are Catholic. My husband became a Catholic a few months before we were married in the church. Faith is so important. Believe in yourself, but in the long run, put your faith in God and He will show you the way. If God brings you to it, He will see you through it.

I try to live by the saying that God helps those who help themselves. My goal in life is to find a way to stay at home and work from home, so I can be with my kids. I currenly work a 40 hour plus week outside the home and my youngest goes to a babysitter and the middle two girls go to a before and after school program when they are not in school. My oldest son walks to the city library after school and starts his homework until I pick him up.

God is guiding me to a place where I feel I can work on these mini-sites (these lenses) and build up enough month-to-month income to not only meet my current income, but to exceed it.

I asked God for patience and He gave me four children. Now, I'm asking Him for a way to stay at home and He led me to Squidoo. I know it's going to happen if it's meant to be...Sunny Daze are right around the corner.

May God Bless You Abundantly

My Charity Lense and First Created Lens - The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

I'm very proud of this lens. It's all about giving and donating to a wonderful cause. I created this lens in the hopes of not only raising money for our team that is participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, but also for raising awareness on such a widespread cancer.

Favorite Things as a Child

These sites (more to follow) are about things I loved as a child and have fond memories of growing up in a family with five kids. We played together, laughed together, fought like siblings do and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

My Scout Lenses - My son is on the trail to Eagle

I think scouting is a great program for all children of all ages and backgrounds. The program encourages personal achivement and exposes young men and woman to activities and situations that build character. They can take this experience and knowledge gained and use it for years to come.

My scout lenses are a work in process. I finally finished the four levels of cub scouting. I am working on the Eagle Trail. Look for it here soon.

Self-Identity and Self-Improvement Lens

I believe that each of us has a potential that we are only skimming the surface. We grow up in a certain family life and many families are healthy and supportive, but there are a lot of families that aren't.

My first completed lense on self-identity deals with the issues of peer pressure and how others on ther playground treat us. If that behaviour gets the best of us and we look to others to value our own self-worth, then we need to re-learn our thinking. We also need to offer a strong support sytem to our own children so they grow up with a strong sense of who they are based on a positive family lifestyle.

Positive Outlook on Life - Stay Positive Even in Difficult Times

Staying positive is easier said than done. You want to throw in the towel sometimes and just let everything go. The dishes, the laundry, pressure at work, school projects, homework, practices, relationships, financial issues, all these variables play into everyday life. Life is not easy, but you can always stop and take a breather and get back on the treadmill anytime. Take daily walks, laugh with the kids, laugh at yourself, stay flexible, remain calm, and take a deep breath when you feel yourself getting stressed and anxious.

I'm not a doctor, but I feel like I have a PHD in life. I've been in a case study for many years and I see the facts of life and the proof that the hypothesis, that life is not easy, has been confirmed many times over. The variables are ever changing and the theory that you make the best with what you have is ever so true based on life's findings. In conclusion, you need to stay positive and things just always seem to work themselves out.

Christian Based Lens

This lense is about a song I heard on the radio one day that brought tears to my eyes - it was so powerful. It came out a few years ago, but it is a great song and I love hearing it. It gives me goose bumps to hear the words and imagine what it would be like to meet Jesus up in heaven face-to-face.

My Sports Lenses

I'm from Southern California, born and raised in the Los Angeles area and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. The Los Angeles Lakers are the home team favorite. Go Lakers!

Since we don't have a home town football team, we had to adopt another team. (I still don't understand the city of Los Angeles without a football team?) I think even if LA had a football team, our house would still remain devoted to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

My Political Lenses - 2008 and 2009 Politcal history making events.

Barack Obama is news any way you look at it. How can you witness history in the making and not have something to say about it?

Another hot topic is the whole financial crisis in America issue. I tried to find a site where I could write to my local Congress member and the only site I found was down because of too many visitors. This was a day when the Bailout Bill was just being introduced to the House. Now news is happening daily and you can't afford to just let it pass.

So I created this lens with a multiple number of links to choose from if you are interested in contact any political member. As a U.S. citizen I read up on the various responsibilities of each of the branches to see how the whole political law making process is handled. It was very informative research.

Tween Things to Do and Role Models

My daughters are seven and eleven. They are four years apart and very different, but they seem to share many similar interests. They both play softball. They both love music. They have a microphone in their room and they sing songs and make up situations and for the most part they get along.

At their ages, it's important to give them positive role models. Currently they like Miley Cyrus, all the High School Musical cast, and the Jonas Brothers. I think the Jona Brothers are each a great role model. The three boys wear purity rings as their personal committment to their parents and themselves that they will abstain from pre-marital sex. Every bit helps in these times. It's tough out there being a young teenager.

Fun Stuff for Kids

I went and looked up the hottest toys selling right now because I'm starting to think about shopping for my own children. On Amazon, the hottest things selling are the Bakugan Battle Brawlers. I did some research and looked into them and I did a lens on them. The show came to the US in February of 2008, so it's a relatively new thing for the young boys and girls. My son used to play the Yu-Gi-Oh cards and battle with them. Now the new thing to battle with are the Bakugan Battle Brawlers.

When I grow up I want to be a Giant Squid

I know I will become a Giant Squid. The great thing about Squidoo is that the website has different incentives that make you want to do your best. Once you have created a single lens and you wake up the next day and see that it has moved up in the ranks your adrenaline starts flowing. You want to add content to that one and then make a second one and get it moving up. Before you know it you have made five or six and why stop there. Only 50 qualified lenses and you're on your way to becoming a Giant Squid.

I think this is the best site around. Where else can you talk about stuff you already know, have it go out on the internet for free, then earn money for a favorite charity or spending cash for yourself. This is great. I love it!

These are like mini-chapters of my life. I am reflecting on all the things I do know and researching the things I don't know. I find myself learning and growing and evolving and wanting to know more about a related subject.

I am taking an inventory of the things and people and places that I feel confident that I know enough about to Squidoo, then I go and search Squidoo and if the number of lenses on that subject is reasonable I create a lens. If the number of lenses is quite high for that niche, I look at the highest ranking lens and ask myself if I can do better. If I think I can, I will create a lens on that subject or person.

Squidoo levels the playing field because everybody starts out with the same tools. What you do with what you are given is up to you. Go hard, go strong, be creative, use unique content, take advantage of the links and go through the modules from A-Z and click on everyone and know what each one can do for you and use them strategically to enhance your site.

I use the philosophy that if someone else can do it, I can do it too. Learn from the experts then add your own uniqueness and succeed to great heights.

Here are some resourceful sites to help you achieve Giant Squidoohood.
