Cross Breed Poodles

Updated on August 31, 2013

Hypoallergenic and User Friendly

What exactly is a Schnoodle or a Labradoodle or a Goldendoodle? Sounds like a new software program or a recipe for cookies from Aunt Bee. Actually these are names for cross breed poodles. The Schnoodle is a cross between a Schnauzer and a Poodle. The Labradoodle is a cross between a Labrador and a Poodle and the Goldendoodle is a cross breed between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. They all make wonderful pets and they are said to be hypoallergenic because they have short hair that doesn't shed as much as other canines with longer hair.

Since these dogs are a hybrid between a poodle and let's say a Labrador, they usually are smaller in size and have shorter hair than a purebred. The Schnoodle is very intelligent and makes a great companion. The Labradoodle is also very intelligent and can learn to obey sign language commands and was actually originally mixed to provide a Guide Dog suitable for people with allergies to fur and dander. The Labradoodles are great swimmers and get their swimming traits from both the Labrador and the Poodle. The Goldendoodle is also very intelligient. This mixed breed dog is loyal and prefers to be around people and would rather not be alone. The Goldendoodles are also great swimmers and get along well with people and other dogs. A cross breed poodle will make any pet lover happy because they are smart, playfull, and a man's best firend through and through.

A Cockapoo in the White House?

Cockapoo -Elect

What do you get when you mix a Cocker Spaniel with a Poodle? A Cockapoo. Malia Obama has showed interest in either a Goldendoodle or a Cockapoo as a possible puppy for the White House. Well, they ended up with a Portuguese Water Dog in the White House, it is so cute!

Cockapoos are generally outgoing, and have a loving personality like the Cocker Spaniel. They also have low-shedding and low-dander qualities of the Poodle. The Poodle parent also contributes intelligence and a tendency to be very active. These traits combined make a loving, intelligent, energetic and agile dog that sheds very little.

Schnoodle

A puppy can take on the coat characteristics of either the poodle or the schnauzer. They can develop the rough and coarse, wiry hair of the Schnauzer or the softer hair of the Poodle, or somewhere in between. Some schnoodles develop coarser Schnauzer-like hair on certain parts of the body like the back, with other softer Poodle-like areas. Schnoodle colors include black, white, brown, grey and apricot. Multi-colored dogs can take on the coloring of a doberman, black & white, sable or parti.

Oodles of Schnoodles - Here are a few cute Schnoodles

Schnoodles are shorter than the purebred Schnauzer or Poodle. Their hair is normally curly.

Labradoodles

A Labradoodle is a crossbred or hybrid dog created by crossing the Labrador Retriever and the Standard or Miniature Poodle. The Labradoodle was first deliberately bred in 1989, when Australian breeder Wally Conron first crossed the Labrador Retriever and Standard Poodle for Guide Dogs Victoria. His aim was to combine the low-shedding coat of the Poodle with the gentleness and trainability of the Labrador, and to provide a Guide Dog suitable for people with allergies to fur and dander. Labradoodles are now often used as Guide, Assistance, and Therapy Dogs.

Goldendoodles

Cross Breed Poodle with a Golden Retriever

The Goldendoodles are lovable, well-mannered, intelligent dogs and they have great charm. They are very intelligent and one of the most trainable breeds. The Goldendoodle tends to be a bit calmer than the smaller variety of poodle crosses. These cross breed dogs are loyal, confident, sweet and eager to please. Goldendoodles enjoy pleasing their masters, so obedience training can be fun. They need to be with people and dislike being alone. Friendly with everyone, including other dogs, the Goldendoodle has very little, if any, guarding instincts. These dogs need to be around people to be happy. They can be exuberant and easily distracted. These dogs also love to swim.

Do you have the right leash for your special dog?

Proper exercise and walking your dog is essential in order to keep your pet healthy and fit. Dogs need daily erercise in order for them to release excessive energy. This energy, if left unleashed, can lead to a misbehaving pet. A daily walk will help your pet to lead a balanced life.
